Emergency Supplies Reach Victims The things my eyes have seen, people just shouldnt see!" On one side of the relief center building, volunteers unloaded CAPs two
Michael Mason, a father of five, drove up to the loading point looking for basic survival supplies. After the storm, Michael walked 136 miles to get back to his house, passing dazed families and children on the street. It was like a fantasy, he said. The things my eyes have seen, people just shouldnt see. When he reached his house it was wind-damaged, but livable. Still without electricity, though, Michael and his family took in several extended family members whose homes were destroyed. Supplies in their house were going quickly and with no jobs to go to, money was also running low. Volunteers packed his car with supplies to carry them through the week. These things are important to us right now, he said. There are a lot of kind people, so if you have any humanity for people, just help them, he said. |
